가벼운 시맨틱웹

시맨틱웹 분야의 최근 화두는 '시맨틱웹의 실용 기술화'이다. 쓸모있는 기술이 되려면 단순해야 한다. Ivan Herman의 프리젠테이션 자료 중 이와 관련한 몇마디:

1. 온톨로지는 중요하지만 필요할 때만 써라.
2. 온톨로지나 RDFS조차 쓰지 않고도 훌륭한 시맨틱웹 응용을 만들 수 있다.
3. 시맨틱웹은 웹 위에서 데이터를 통합하는 기술이다. 필요한 경우 온톨로지와 규칙은 이 목적을 달성하기 위한 유용한 도구가 될 수 있다.

(1) Ontologies are important, but use them only when necessary. (2) You can be a perfectly decent citizen of the Semantic Web if you do not use Ontologies, not even RDFS! (3) The Semantic Web is about integrating data on the Web; ontologies (and/or rules) are tools to achieve that when necessary.
